Locally Infused Chemotherapy

Together We Can

Prototype

Locally Infused Chemotherapy (LIC) is a combination of chemotherapy drugs, a catheter, computed tomography (CT), and a uniquely designed medical balloon with multiple control features.

LIC Balloon Prototype

Similar to the angioplasty treatment, the LIC balloon is inserted into the patient’s body. It is then guided to the malignant tumor using CT where it encapsulates the tumor for localized chemotherapy. This process ensures that the treatment stays localized and does not affect the rest of the body.

  1. The first step in the LIC treatment process is to locate the malignant tumor using a CT scan, which creates detailed images of blood vessels and various organs in the body.

  2. Once the balloon reaches the target tumor site, it will be commanded to expand and encapsulate the tumor.

  3. This is followed by administering the chemo drugs in a controlled manner to the encapsulated tumor through the catheter.

  4. The treatment procedure can be repeated based on tumor response to the treatment until the cancer is completely cured.

Summary

  • Tumor located with a CT scan
  • Balloon introduced through catheter and guided to surround the tumor, cutting off blood circulation
  • Chemo drugs administered through the catheter to the tumor
  • Balloon and catheter withdrawn and removed after the administration
