Pros and Cons

Pros:

• This treament is localized which keeps the chemo drugs from spreading to the surrounding cells.
• Significantly decreases the amount of side effects such as hair loss, destruction of the immune system, weakness of the bones etc.
• This localized treatment provides the flexiblity to control the amount of drugs that are given to the patient.

Cons:

• The LIC balloon requires special design engineering and is a futuristic technology.
• The complex design engineering aspect of the LIC balloon may result in the final cost of treatment being more expensive.
• This treatment is limited to treatment of first stage of cancer which has not metastasized.
