Leaders in Laminitis

Laminitis is an extremely painful and difficult-to-diagnose disease that affects the hooves of ungulates (any hoofed mammal), including horses, cattle, and donkeys. We focused on laminitis in horses. If diagnosed at a late stage, this disease is very difficult to treat and often results in euthanization. In our project, we worked on the diagnostic process of the disease. In the past, the diagnosis of laminitis was based solely on the signs and symptoms of the disease. In recent years, more modern techniques have been implemented such as the x-ray machine and blood tests for insulin levels. We created the L.E.A.D.S. (Laminitis Equine Absolute Diagnosis System), a powerful and easy to use tool that will help to diagnose the disease quickly, efficiently, and accurately. The L.E.A.D.S. will also commit to creating a healthier horse!

This is the Laminitis Stance or the "Sawhorse" stance. This horse has his front legs stretched outward to alleviate pressure and pain in his hooves.
