Structure and changes in the eye
The eye is structured perfectly for vision. Any changes or breakdown in this highly complex organ creates major vision issues for the individual. Fairly crude methods have been used for hundreds of years to address problems of the eye and enhance vision. These all have challenges, and a new invention is need to help.
Drawbacks of modern eye-aiding technology
- The eye is not always able to adjust its refraction to allow for 20-20 vision. This results in people having difficulty seeing clearly and constantly needing new glasses - especially kids
- Bifocals and progressives for adults can lead to a limited vision plane causing eye fatigue, headache, and neck pain from uncomfortable postures
Early Detection of eye and other diseases
- Eye diseases normally develop gradually and are generally irreversible. Regular exams can prevent these diseases, but people don't always have them done
- Scientists have found that other diseases can also be detected through eye scans -- especially heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases
Improving life with Augmented Vision
- Augmented vision technologies are available, but are large and expensive. Also, they can't be worn easily at all times.
- Real world situations like emergency response activities are full of dangers that can be addressed with an easy-to-use augmented vision system
