Consequences

Shown below are some of the possible unintended consequences of building a wavepark. People could be affected too. If a wavepark is placed in active fishing grounds, it could shut down fisheries and cost jobs. But, because the benefits of wave power are so great, we think all of these obstacles can be overcome to form a thriving new industry that creates jobs and produces clean, renewable energy. In fact, the Wavemaster design, which keeps all electric cables buried beneath the ocean floor (instead of running down from a surface buoy) might just solve the problem of attracting sharks to electromagnetic fields.
