Tumor Treatments:

• Since ancient times, crude tools were used to remove tumors. For example, trepanning is the most ancient method known for relieving pressure in cases of brain tumors by cutting the skull.

• Another method of treatment was herbal medicines. The ancient Chinese used herbal medicines to assuage the pain and suppress the progression of tumors. It was also believed that these herbal medicines increased the flow of blood and oxygen to the body and brain.

• In 1968, the first Gamma Knife Procedure was carried out. In this type of treatment, extremely high concentrations of focused radiation were delivered to the tumor.
