Biosensor

  • Biosensors use a “lab-on-a-chip” concept to detect bacteria
  • Antibodies are utilized to sense different species of bacteria at one time
  • After pathogenic bacteria is captured, their cells flow into a bead array
  • Bacterial suspension transports the cells to the filter
  • Bacterial cells are lysed, and the remnants are analyzed by the sensor array
  • Once contamination is detected, an electrical charge is released
  • The polyaniline changes color as a result
