The Passenger Tire Waste Heat Recovery System uniquely combines nanotechnologies in order to create a new way of harnessing energy in a world threatened by environmental challenges. As a car’s tire rolls along the road surface, rolling resistance occurs and heat energy is created during the constant deformation of the tire. We hope that in the next twenty years, harnessing this energy and converting it to electricity for use in cars will be possible. The Passenger Tire Waste Heat Recovery System consists of a system of quantum dots, photovoltaic cells, and a super lattice to collect this wasted energy. Our invention will reduce the need for gasoline to fuel cars and ultimately decrease the amount of green house gases released into the atmosphere.

Fact: One in every five tanks of gasoline is used to overcome rolling resistance, which is estimated to be 22 billion gallons a year.
