HEADS UP! HELMET - 2011

Our 2011 invention is a military helmet that protects U.S. soldiers from traumatic brain injury due to bomb blasts and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Our helmet is a complete redesign of the standard-issue military helmet, and it features an advanced structural design, overlapping molecular weight polyethylene shells, sophisticated temperature and air pressure sensors, and bullet and shrapnel-stopping gels in order to prevent the growing number of traumatic brain injury cases experienced by our troops.

HEADS UP! HEADGEAR - 2031

Our 2031 invention is headgear that will protect soldiers on the battlefield, as well as athletes and children on the playing field. Our headgear is made of micro layers of impact-resistant, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene sheets spun and covered with highly sensitive temperature and air pressure sensors to detect concussive force. These impact-resistant sheets are also encapsulated with shock absorbing gel that expands to form a protective cushion of cranial insulation to prevent blunt force or concussive force trauma. These composite materials expand under force, extreme air pressure or temperature to ultimately protect the brain from mild, moderate or traumatic injury.
