Min Gao has suffered from
trigeminal neuralgia for over 20 years. The right maxillary and
mandibular branches of the nerve often abruptly act up, causing an
electrical shock and agonizing throbbing along her cheek and teeth.
Being the mother of two children and having a full-time job as a
biostatistician, Min has a successful life. Her pain, however,
restricts her from spending time out with her friends, colleagues,
and family. She inspired us to find a cure for the Suicide Disease
because she is the mother of one of the members of our team.
will relieve Min’s pain and allow her to live life to the fullest.
Furthermore, although THI is specifically designed for trigeminal
neuralgia patients, the idea it brings forth can help
people in this world. By using a thermoresponsive hydrogel as a
cushion, other pains or disorders caused by friction, such as osteorarthritis, iliotibial
band syndrome, and hemifacial spasm, can be treated.
