The Opti Arm
An Optical Interface Prosthetic Device

Real Life Impact

Mr. David Moyer was working with a piece of machinery alone at home when a traumatic accident occurred; the machine took his lower arm off. As he realized the severity of his injury, he began to worry that he would never enjoy the capability and freedom of movement that he once had.

With the Current-State-of-the-Art (Mr. Moyer's True Story) What Mr. Moyer's life would be like with the Opti Arm

Mr. Moyer sees his prosthetic devices as tools."You have to develop strategies to make even the simplest of movements," said Mr. Moyer. Right now Mr. Moyer lives a happy  life despite his amputation. His different devices are "tools in his tool box" to accomplish everyday tasks.       In the future, Mr. Moyer would only need one tool: the Opti Arm! The Opti Arm would be able to accomplish all of the tasks that his previous prosthetics could and more. The Opti Arm would allow Mr. Moyer to make movements more quickly and efficiently than ever before.

The Opti Arm will allow millions of amputees around the world, like Mr. Moyer, to regain the freedom, range of movement, and capability that they once had.

We would like to thank Mr. David Moyer for allowing us to interview him for this website. His enthusiasm and positive attitude were much appreciated. He offered to lend us a hand (literally). Perhaps in a few years, we can give him an arm in return.
